Your story

  1. Cat name: Sweetie
    12 years old
    6 pound
    Diagnosed oral SCC
Reason prescribed: Was using transmucosal buprenorphine but cost per dose was prohibitively high purchasing from vet and at the time didn’t know we could purchase from pharmacy. So vet suggested zorbium as alternative. She was very transparent and said it does have concerning side effects, though death was not one that was mentioned. So we tried it. The drug seemed effective at controlling pain, however the side effects were concerning. First 48 hours cat was very jittery. By day 4 side effects seem over, but for a while it did cause me a lot of concern. Unless I had no other choice I definitely would think twice about using zorbium again

    1. Thank you for sharing, and I’m glad Sweetie is ok. Death definitely should be listed as a side effect. Consider reporting it to both Elanco, and the FDA so it can be documented. We are still trying to get it off the market.
